You’ve recently misplaced your License to Carry (“LTC”) and just submitted a form in the mail or online for a replacement card. Does this impact your ability to carry a handgun in Texas?
WHAT THE LAW SAYS
The short answer is yes. Texas Penal Code § 46.02 makes it a crime to carry a handgun without an LTC (or other recognized license or permit) unless you’re on your own premises or premises under your control, or inside of or directly en route to a motor vehicle or watercraft that you own or is under your control. LTC holders who physically possess their LTC are exempt from this statute and can carry either concealed (anywhere on or about their person) or openly (in a belt or shoulder holster) in most public places, other than those specifically prohibited by law or where effective criminal trespass notice is provided.
Again, you MUST have physical possession of your LTC (or other recognized license or permit) to generally carry lawfully in public in Texas. Therefore, if your license is lost or misplaced, you cannot carry your handgun until you find your LTC or receive a new one.
The same rule applies if you’ve recently applied for or renewed your LTC. You cannot carry without physical possession of a current unexpired license or newly issued valid license.

It has been since December ! when all that was required had been submitted and I have not received my LTC card!
Can’t call DPS over and over anybody got an idea to check on the status?

Why does it take so long to receive ur LTC in Texas ? if your background had issues they wouldn’t have sold you handgun in first place correct?? Or am I missing something?

My BF and I took our test on the same day. We both passed. I received mine but his never arrived. How do we go about getting his LTC card?

We’re is my drivers license I’ve renewed them, but it was late getting off,I done everything that was required, and I am still waiting, it’s been sense, August of 2020.
Expect 2-4 months before your LTC arrives.
I’ve been waiting since February; however, I’ve purchased 17 new guns and >5k in ammunition since then……
Mine came on monday 06/01/2020. Exactly 3 (exluding memorial day)weeks when I did my online LTC certification, range certification and fingerprints. Pretty fast even during a pandemic. I’m impressed.
Received a renewal notice in late April urging me to renew my LTC. This is 6 months early! So I went online, logged in filled out the form, paid my fee and approximately 3 weeks later, my new LTC arrived, which I thought was astonishingly fast. It might help that I am a licensed Level III/IV security officer too.
Renewals come back faster than someone newly applying for a LTC. My husbands was here 10 days after renewing.
I applied and received my new LTC in two weeks. Not bad considering all the restrictions in place in our country. I am glad I live in Texas.
Re Tx license, I’d you’re female, resend your application with your Tx student certification. I don’t think my instructor sent mine in. A girl thing.
I took my LTC class on Feb 16. sent all my paper work in online Feb 18. recieved my Lic on March 20 . I also live in the Great State of Texas.
tomorrow makes 60 days for application submitted and still nothing, my daughter went same day and class already has been issued hers.
Note, you daughter is younger then you.
Younger people get there’s faster because it’s less years for them to look through.
To whom it may concern I took the class did may fingerprints and everything at the beginning of the year and still haven’t received my LTC permit not sure if I’m missing anything are what?
I applied in Feb. 2020 -Had to pay for doctor to give okay on Illness I suffer from but under control for 22 years. Push finer print check is still open. i Fax doctors report in order to maybe move faster. I am 72 years old – no problems with Law for over 25 years. I am a combat veteran – grew up with guns. What is hold up?? Am I being singled out due to age??

And today is Oct. 1, not checklist showing no nothing, Sent a complaint to the Governor’s office about the process and received zero response. I bought 2 handguns already and been to the range with them. It seems like you would make me wait for the gun not the license. What am I missing here?
Why haven’t my license came in yet?
Everything on the status of my license was green along with the license status saying mailed about a week ago. I checked again today and now nothing is showing up at all. Does that mean it has been mailed and i just haven’t received it yet or does it mean something else?
am I allowed to carry while waiting on an address change? am I allowed to purchase a gun while waiting on an address change?
